Housekeeping

Laundry, Part 2
How quickly I've fallen from the pampered heights of hotel laundry service.  We moved into our temporary flat.  Like the flat we'll inhabit in March, and typical for this part of the world, there is a tiny washer/dryer combo in one of the kitchen cabinets.

It took me twenty minutes with the manual to figure out how to do one load

Didn't fold itself either

No coffee maker,so coffee:

Plus boiling water

Stir

Press

Ready to pour

Honestly?  Quite a good cup of coffee and due to the kettle very fast!

Wait until you see the hoover (vacuum) - it has a face!

French press always makes the best coffee.

  3. I know people who swear that the French press is the ONLY way to make coffee.

Friends of ours went on sabbatical with their three kids to Oxford for a year. Their flat was terrific, but the washer/dryer combo took some getting used to. As a family of five, they produce around 5-7 loads of laundry a week in a regular American washer, which became more in the tiny British washer. They would get up in the morning and start a load before they left for work/school, then do another one in the evenings before they went to bed.
